The Gallery

The Guild House Gallery came from a casual comment from a member to the mayor, “if there is ever a chance to be part of downtown the guild would appreciate the opportunity”. That opportunity came to fruition September 14, 2008 with the ribbon cutting attended by most of the 20 members that completed the jury process to participate.

When the guild decided to proceed with the idea of obtaining a gallery space there was never any thought of being anywhere but on Main Street. The opportunity came with an entrepreneurial grant from the City of Winchester, procuring the space at 103 South Main Street in the Winchester Opera House building. The building was built in the late 1800’s, first known as Simpson’s Music Hall by Winchester’s first mayor. Now hosting a variety of business’s the building has been restored to its previous splendor.

Our membership has grown at the gallery to over 30 exhibitors and other business’s in town have offered space for any paintings that won’t fit in our space, so look around as you visit Gaunce’s Deli and Café on the Bypass, JK’s Café on Main Street and the Tourism/Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Authority on Maple Street, all items are for sale through the gallery.
